Spring Break Goals

It’s Spring Break!!! Can I get a woohoo?!

My work situation is changing here coming up very soon (cannot WAIT to talk about this!) but before that starts I negotiated a week off to spend time with Alexis while she is on Spring Break.  We decided before the week got away from us that we would set up some goals for ourselves and work everyday toward achieving them.

1) Exercise 5 days out of 7 in the next week
2) Eliminate all sugar other than sugar in our coffee
3) update my blog with fitness goals and update daily.

Not hard by any stretch of the imagination but some of us (me) have had difficulty being and staying motivated lately.  I’m working on that. I’ve had some serious hurdles here lately that I’ve had to overcome but I’m very close to being over them and I’m ready to put myself first. I have so much to talk about that I’ve learned recently about myself. I’ll get to all of that very soon. Right now I still need to remain a little aloof.

Today was awesome. Day 1 of Spring Break was a hit! The only thing that I had on my to-do list was to have lunch with a friend and grocery shop. Not hard at all. Nothing too demanding here, people.

Alexis and I had lunch and made wonderful choices. She had a pecan crusted chicken salad (with ranch, but she was sparing with it) and I had a salad & baked potato combo.

Garden salad with balsamic vinaigrette & a small croissant.

Baked potato with fixin's on the side & steamed broccoli. I ended up putting a small amount of butter and cheese on my tater.

After lunch I was still hungry. Like I could still eat a burger, hungry. It’s lady time around here and I am ravenous during this time (TMI, sorry) so I’ve been struggling with that all day. Annoying.

We meal planned & then went to the grocery store (because what else do you do when you are hungry?) for provisions.  Dinners this week: Stir fry, baked ziti, taco salad, mahi mahi with veggies and buffalo chicken salads (tuna for me).  $200 later we were on our way home.

We got home and played my new addiction – Draw Something. I’m hopelessly addicted to this game right now. (Do you want to play? I’m TheRealNicole2112. Hit me up! )  Then I noticed that I got a Foodie Pen Pal package in the mail and instantly tore into it. There was some awesome peanut butter in there so I shared an apple with Ali & we split the peanut butter too. Delicious! More on the contents later this month when I do the reveal!!

Honeycrisp apples are my favorite right now and this pb is amazeballs!

After we caught up on the outstanding Draw Something games we started watching GCB. This show is hilarious! It is very similar to what Desperate Housewives was like when it was good.  We watched one episode and left the second one for tomorrow.  It’s really good. Who else is watching this?

I was still hungry when we were watching the show so I busted out some TLC Salsa pita chips.  Argh. I’m a bottomless pit today.

These chips are good - and spicy!

Tommy got home and we started dinner. Tommy is always the one that makes stir fry since he’s so good at it.  🙂 Tonight’s wasn’t the best because we didn’t have the right kind of schezwan sauce but we made it work.

Colorful and very yummy if you ask me!

No sugar today which is a plus! I desperately wanted a cake pop or a salted caramel bar when we ran through Starbucks after the grocery store. I would have gotten one too if it hadn’t have been for our goals this week. Geez, and I wonder why I have this blog and I’m working through these food issues.  F!

After dinner, Alexis and I got our shoes on and workout clothes & started out on a walk around our neighborhood.  We were going to do two laps which would be almost 2.5 miles but once we got outside we noticed that it was dark.  Not just dark but scary dark outside.  Now, you have to understand that we live on a street that has a lot of room between the houses and not every lot has a house on it.  On top of that there are no streetlights or other lights – at all. Basically we are in the sticks.  We made it to the house that was about 4 lots down from us and instantly got freaked out. Neither one of us are very keen on the dark and this was just downright scary.   We turned around and came home – didn’t even last out there 15 minutes.  Oy vey. We are such wussies.

Tomorrow morning we’ll try it again – or go to the gym where the lights are on the whole time. Ha ha. Does 15 minutes of walking count as exercise? I don’t think so – I guess tomorrow will be Day 1 of the 5 for the week. Oh well.

Suck it, protein.

Today’s food numbers. I guess this is why I’m still hungry. It’s okay, I’ll live. I have plans to make a good breakfast in the morning so I’ll be fine until then. As for the protein, well, we all know that is always my issue.  Tomorrow is another day and there are eggs in my future!

Also, it’s another day in which I don’t have the go to work. Boom.

I’ve been to your house and the dark creeped ME out, even from your door to the driveway! Damn. Hahaha!

Yea, we’ve been to your house and hubs and I both agree walking in the dark at your house is creepy and you are normal, not wussy for turning back – heehee!

Awesome first day of spring break! 🙂

I love you, so that’s why I’m going to say this – you are hungry because you are not eating enough protein girl! protein fills you up and keeps you full for the long haul, which will keep you from snacking on those carbs all afternoon. While those carbs will give you quick energy, they will not keep you full at all. So try to get some more protein into your diet and you should stay full longer!

If you want more info about protein (not eating enough, eating too much, etc) just ask me and I’ll give you a crash course.

I love these goals and I hope you and Alexis have a great spring break! Can’t wait for you to share all the deets 🙂 eeeeee

I know that it’s important and I find that it’s a constant struggle to keep my intake between those ranges. It’s a constant struggle for me everyday wrt food and exercise. I am trying to snap out of it. I’m working hard at it everyday – some days more than others.
Today was better – I proved that I can do it! 🙂
